Visualising the 2011/12 League 2 fixtures

The heat map below colours each team’s fixtures based on their relative difficulty, calculated using relative promotion odds and the proportion of last season’s points won at home, with green being the easiest on paper and red the hardest. If you want a more detailed explanation then read this.

To give a few examples of how to read this, Morecambe’s first 4 games all look winnable, giving them an opportunity to put last season’s disappointment behind them and start on the front foot. By comparison Crewe’s December (games 20-23) looks hellish, as do Barnet’s fixtures in February / early March (games 29-36) , although the following 5 matches look significantly more winnable for the Bees and could produce a similar survival dash to last season’s great escape.
