Expected goals league table, Championship 1-2 Oct 2019
This is a quick update to the expected table in the Championship after the midweek round of fixtures. This has been calculated using expected goals (as seen in my match timelines). There’s a full explanation in the first post here.
Leeds continue their 100% record in expected goals i.e. they’ve out-created every league opponent this season by at least a third of a goal, but are dropping an average of one point per game so far. Brentford were held to a draw despite doing enough to beat Bristol City, extending both their own underachievement and the Robins’ knack of winning more points than the underlying data suggests.
